-A Thorp man has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex with a minor.Scott Bergman, age 44, who was an assistant track coach at the Thorp High School, was arrested for having sex with a 17 year old student last November. After Bergman had made an initial appearance for the first arrest and the first round of charges filed against him, he was released on bail. But, he was arrested again in March for continuing to see the student.
As of now, Scott has several charges filed against him including sexual assault of a student by school staff, two counts of sex with a child age 16 or older, possession of child pornography, and two counts of felony bail jumping, which he received after violating the initial terms of his bond which stated that he couldn?t have any contact with the student.
Bergman did plead not guilty to all the charges filed against him. He has also requested a new judge for his case with the hopes the new judge will be ?less strict.? Future court proceedings will be presided over by Judge Todd Wolf from Wood County and no further action could be taken until that time.
