Future of Failed Referendum Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-Some final items of old business were taken care of at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.Kris Karaba led a discussion of the board retreat that was held on March 20 at the Owen fire station.
The main topic of the retreat was the development of a District Administrator/Principal evaluation system. Dennis Richards of the WASB worked with the board on what should and should not be included in the evaluation.
The Owen-Withee Board also agreed that the needs they have as a district have not gone away with the failed referendum. The board decided that tweaking the question to better meet the needs/wants of the voters is needed to get a proposal that will pass. The Board will continue to look for ways to engage the community on developing a plan that voters can support.
Finally, the board had a discussion on Owen-Withee?s local newspaper. It is the feeling of the board that the article published in the OW Enterprise, regarding the district?s referendum, was an attack on the building project and not something that was done in the best interest of the District or the community. District Administrator Bob Houts was authorized to seek other newspapers to be the official District newspaper.
