-A few items of old business were taken care of at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.Rick Eloranta, Owen-Withee School Board Member, and Bob Houts, District Administrator of Owen-Withee, talked about a meeting they attended with area state legislators that was held in Medford on April 1.
A format of panel discussions on 5 topics was implemented and this year six legislators, 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans, listened to comments by area administrators and school personnel on topics such as the 0% revenue limit proposal in the budget, private school and special ed vouchers, technology in rural schools and educator effectiveness programs.
The consensus of the group was that it was a good evening. The legislators listened and seemed open to compromise on the budget and on the vouchers.
Mr. Eloranta also discussed the Clark County Education Summit that was held in Greenwood on March 28 and he elaborated on the items discussed by speakers, the presentations made by students and the many other items discussed.
