2013 Clark County DNR Spring Hearing and Conservation Congress, Part 6
Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 -- 10:57 AM
-The final round of questions brought up a last week?s DNR Spring Hearing and Conservation Congress in Clark County fell into a wide variety of categories. Some of the more noteworthy ones included whether or not hunters should be required to wear back tags. A game warden at the events said that he feels safer when he checks the tags of hunters in a camp that may be acting odd or nervous around him.
Another question that raised some comments was the fees on out of state licensing. Many residents feel that Wisconsin should raise its prices for hunters coming in out of state. One resident in attendance said that when he goes to hunt in Iowa, he pays over 500 dollars for a license and other items.
Wolf hunting with dogs and trolling were also two big issues brought up by the Conservation Congress.
A registration fee on all boat types, including canoes and kayaks, was not favored by those in attendance. A game warden present said he could see logic behind it as the money would help pay for rescue services kayakers and canoers receive if they get into trouble.
