Wisconsin Drops In Creating Private-Sector Jobs.

Sunday, March 31st, 2013 -- 10:05 AM

New quarterly figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show Wisconsin has dropped to 44th in the nation for creating private-sector jobs.

The data covers the year-long period that ended in September, and reflected a recent steady decline. Wisconsin had ranked 42nd for the year-long period that ended one quarter earlier, and 37th two quarters earlier.

The report is based on a census of 96 percent of all American non-farm employers, public and private.

It says other Midwestern states are performing better than Wisconsin. Indiana ranked 11th in the quarterly report, Michigan 13th and Ohio 24th.

Governor Scott Walker's spokesman Cullen Werwie said the governor had no immediate comment.
