Complaints Filed Against Marshfield School Board Candidates

Saturday, March 30th, 2013 -- 7:27 AM

Two Marshfield residents have filed a complaint against two candidates in the Marshfield School Board race.

The complaint filed by Steven Okonek of Chili and Jenny Leverson of Hewitt, alleges that Dennis Juncer and Carl Mueller have broken campaign finance laws.

There is a 1,000 dollar limit that candidates can spend without having to file a campaign finance report. Any individual or group that spends in excess of $25 a year supporting or opposing a candidate must register with the school district and file campaign finance reports.

However, Juncer amended his candidacy form on March 21st when he thought he would spend more. Government Accountability Board spokesman Reid Magney said since Juncer did amend his candidacy, he was required to file a report.

The complaint also alleges that Carl Mueller is violating campaign finance laws because Mueller has not filed the necessary paperwork with the district establishing himself as an independent expenditure committee.
