Saturday, March 30th, 2013 -- 8:16 AM

The number of registered vehicles in the Badger State is growing.

At the end of 2012, there were nearly 4.8 million cars and trucks registered in Wisconsin. That's about 50-thousand more vehicles than in 2011. Trucks, SUVs and mini-vans continue to outnumber cars.

Last year trucks, SUVs and mini-vans totaled more than 2.5 million; while cars can in at around 2.3 million.

The highest number of vehicle registrations occurred in Milwaukee, Dane and Waukesha counties respectively. Menomonie County saw the fewest registrations.

In 1930, Wisconsin had approximately 729 thousand registered vehicles.
