Final Items from Recent Neillsville School Board Meeting

Tuesday, March 26th, 2013 -- 8:15 AM

-A few final items discussed from last week?s Neillsville School Board Meeting.

The board approved two 11th grade Foreign Exchange students for the 2013-2014 school year.

Mr. Rueth, Elementary Principal at Neillsville, also gave a brief report. He mentioned Neillsville?s make-up days, the good press the district has been receiving, the 5th Grade Musical, and the Pops Skating Event. He also reminded the board about the Child Development Days being held at Neillsville this Thursday, the 28th and the fact that the 4th quarter is fast approaching.

He and Mr. Gaier, District Administrator of Neillsville, also mentioned an initiative that Mr. Anderson, the High School Principal at Neillsville, is working on with a leadership and scheduling committee to consider revising class periods.

The initiative would possibly decrease an 8 period day to a 7 period day which could potentially mean instead of 45 minute class periods there would be 50 minute periods. Study time would be alloted during which time teachers could also have the opportunity to work with students at that are considered academically at risk. It would be an opportunity for students to go to a core teacher, as in a math, science, English, etc. teacher, and get help if they are struggling in a specific class.
