Make-Up Days and Summer School Discussed at Neillsville School Board Meeting

Monday, March 25th, 2013 -- 8:31 AM

-Neillsville?s make-up days, summer school 2013, and more were discussed at the recent Neillsville School Board meeting.

The make-up days for Neillsville, as they have used too many snow days this year, will be Thursday, March 28th, Monday, April 1st, and Friday, June 7th.

The board approved the new summer school schedule for this year. Summer school will now be broken into two sessions, a two week period in June and a two week period in August.

The purpose is to help prepare students for school again in August and to prevent regression that students usually experience over the summer. The district said that they have gotten nothing but positive comments from teachers and families.

The same activities will be available including Math and English credits for High School students as well as hunter?s safety, ATV safety, and more.

The board will also use this opportunity to have classes for kids that are struggling in a specific core class like English or Math.

The district isn?t sure what the impact of the new schedule will be, but they are hoping for positive results.
