NEW INFO: Clark County Train Derailing Still Under Investigation

-The cause behind a train derailing in Clark County is still under investigation.

On Saturday, just before 6:00pm, a train derailed on County Road K between Hatfield and Merrillan. The train was transporting sand and some of it was spilled onto the highway when 19 of the train cars derailed.

No one was injured in the incident.

County Road K remains blocked as crews continue to clean up the area. Motorists are asked to avoid the area use alternate routes until the clean-up is finished and the road reopened.

The Canadian National Railroad brought in heavy equipment to clean up the scene, including re-railing of some of the cars and moving others. The cars which could not be placed back onto the rails will be unloaded and removed.

Agencies involved in the response to this accident included Hatfield Fire Department, Jackson and Clark County Sheriff?s Departments, Jackson and Clark County Highway Departments, Clark County Emergency Management, as well as the Canadian National Railroad.
