Sunday, March 17th, 2013 -- 6:41 AM
-A train derailed between Merillan and Hatfield on Saturday.According to the Clark County Sheriff?s Department, about 19 cars came off the tracks. The train was carrying sand and at least one of them spilled tons of sand.
The operator of the train was not injured nor was any civilians.
The cause of the crash has not been determined but the Clark County Emergency Management Department is working with the Canadian National Railways, who is the owner of the train, on the investigation.
Clean-up is expected to last well into today and County Road K is closed in that area so if you?re driving that way today you?ll be asked to find an alternate route.
