Phosphorous Compliance Discussed at Granton City Council Meeting
Friday, March 15th, 2013 -- 7:14 AM
-The Village of Granton is going to hold off on a storm drain and gutter project. The Granton City Council did not accept any bids for the project as there is too much snow at the moment.
The city is also continuing to work on the maintenance portion of their sewer ordinance.
The village engineer also told the city about a new Phosphorous compliance that all cities are going to have to follow.
The DNR has sent out new guidelines saying that all cities must treat or eliminate phosphorous levels in the water. Phosphorous is found in different chemicals and soaps and the DNR has set new limits as to how much phosphorous a city can have. Most cities are over that limit as it is so miniscule.
Finally, the city is considering allowing bow hunting in Granton as they are facing a deer and geese problem within city limits.
