Clark County Barn Quilts

-There is an art form growing in popularity around Clark County and is being showcased by the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau in partnership with the UW-Extension and the Clark County Historical Society.Barn Quilts have begun to grab the attention of motorists around the state and now they are making their way to Clark County.
A few months ago, a group of quilters and others found themselves to be in the same place at the same time and felt that Barn Quilts would not only highlight the many beautiful barns we have in the county, but also promote tourism as many individuals that have a passion for the hobby drive long hours just to see them.
At the Loyal City Hall on Thursday a group of ladies, including Sheila Nyberg, Jo Ann Trunkel, Lois Becker, Pat Lindner, Sandy Fritz, and Judith Pentz, spoke to me about what they hope to achieve by bringing attention to the quilts.
The CCEDC hopes to have enough quilts in the county by 2014 to use them for their Spring ?Arts in Clark County Tour? and for hosting Alice in Dairyland in 2014. There will be a mention of the Barn Quilts for this year?s Spring Art Tour.
If you?d like to learn more about Barn Quilts or how to make them, you can contact the CCEDC at 255-9151 or you can attend the Barn Quilt ?Learn to Make it Event? on April 3rd at 6:30 at the Loyal City Hall.
