March is Red Cross Month

-Today is the first day of March and it is also the start of Red Cross Month.Bobbi Snethen of the Red Cross and Program Manager of the Blood Services Division told me about the many things the Red Cross in involved with.
Blood Services is a big on that most people are familiar with, but they also have a hand in Disaster Services. If a community suffers from severe thunderstorms to disasters like Superstorm Sandy, the Red Cross is there to help by providing food, shelter, and other services.
They also help the armed forces. The Red Cross takes great pride in connecting loved ones and providing support and training to those in the military.
The Red Cross also provides lifesaving skills so regular citizens can help out those in need as well. Bobbi mentioned how impressive that is as 95% of the Red Cross is made up of volunteers.
Some special events to celebrate and recognize Red Cross Month that the group will be putting on in our area include the 2013 Real Heroes Awards at the Marshfield Clinic and there are several local blood drives happening in the community.
