Clark County Board of Supervisors Meeting, Part 2
Thursday, February 28th, 2013 -- 1:09 PM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved the first reading of a new ordinance for the county, but only after many question and discussion. The new ordinance allows The Clark County Department of Public Health to become an agent of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, or DATCP, and giving the department the power to establish permit fees, issue permits, and make investigations into retail food establishments.
What all that means is that the Public Health Department can go into grocery stores, bakeries and similar establishments and provide them with necessary permits and also investigate and shut down an establishment, if need be, if it isn?t following all the health regulations.
There is still a lot in the development process including citation regulations, fee amounts, etc. and there seemed to be a lot of confusion among the board members regarding the hours worked and how they?d be paid.
In the end, after a failed attempt to table the ordinance until the next meeting, 10 yes/17 no, the 1st reading did pass 16 yes/11 no. The program will begin July 1st.
