-The Neillsville Winter Carnival gets into full swing starting with tonight?s events.Deanna Heiman, Executive Director of the Neillsville Area Chamber of Commerce, talked about some the events going on this weekend. "There's the ever popular Rotary Club's Polar Plunge. This is their 10th year. Over the last 10 years they've raised over 100,000 dollars by local groups that participate in that event. The dart tournament this year, there's a change in location and that'll be at the Neillsville Country club on Saturday at 1:00. The Winter Carnival card tournaments, it wouldn't be Winter Carnival without those card tournaments."
Some of the other events Deanna mentioned include Hypnotist Jeffrey Michaels on Saturday night at the High School and sponsored by the Neillsville FFA. There?s the pancake breakfast at the Legion Sunday morning, the Trophy Trap Shoot at the Gun Club on Sunday, an open swim at the Neillsville pool, and the Big Hairy Deal.
There are also several shows at the O?Neill Ice Arena including a hockey match, a squirt hockey match, and a figure skating show.
Why should you come to the Winter Carnival, Deanna has the answer. "Winter Carnival gives people a great opportunity to get out of the house. Everybody is suffering from cabin fever right now and they're looking for an excuse to go out and have some fun."
