Thursday, February 14th, 2013 -- 8:18 AM
-After those that attended the Lunch-N-Learn Session on Monday learned about the First Impressions Program and Placemaking they discussed their next steps. The group at the event expressed interest in doing the programs.
Deanna Heiman, Executive Director of the Neillsville Area Chamber of Commerce, said, ?I think we should start with the First Impressions Program. It would be a great way to get our feet wet and then we could try Placemaking for Neillsville.?
Another attendee said, ?I think the two programs could work hand in hand. In the past, different groups tried something like this, but they didn?t work together. They did different pieces and now with a structured program like this we can get things accomplished.?
The group also said that partnerships would be a key factor to success. They talked about bringing in different church groups, 4-H, FFA groups, boy scouts and others to help with volunteer work.
?We need people that like to get involved in the community. We need those champions,? one resident said. ?It seems like people fear change, we need those great volunteers to get the project off the ground.?
