Neillsville City Council Agrees to Additional $2500 for Fairgrounds PA System

-The Neillsville city council agreed to pay an additional 2,500 dollars for a PA system at the Clark County Fairgrounds.During an Economic Development meeting last summer, the group budgeted 5000 dollar to help pay for the new PA system.
The system would be used for announcements, different events, tourism, and in case of emergencies. The city of Neillsville initially decided that this was fine as the fair and other events bring in a lot of extra revenue.
However, during the budget process at the end of 2012, that amount was knocked down to 2500 dollars. During an Economic Development meeting on January 29th, a motion was made to ask the common council to take an additional 2500 dollars from the Economic Development Program budget and help pay for the system. There is currently 30,000 dollars in that budget.
The council did agree on the matter, but there were a lot of questions. They wondered what the county was paying for this system. They also looked at other places the money could come from. On suggestion was from the room tax, but in the end, they decided that money would probably be needed by others.
In making the decision they also realized the fair and events brought in a lot of money for the city, but felt that recent numbers as to just how much money brought before them by the UW-Extension were a bit high. They also wondered why the Chamber of Commerce couldn?t help with the bill.
They did approve the motion, but there was one vote against it. The entire PA project is expected to cost 30,000 dollars.
