Greenwood To Renegotiate With Loyal on Wastewater
Monday, February 11th, 2013 -- 8:30 AM
-The City of Greenwood will be asking Loyal for more money to treat its wastewater.Since 2008, Loyal has been sending its municipal wastewater to Greenwood?s treatment plant. A couple years prior to that, Loyal was having problems with its treatment plant and had the threat of building an all new plant looming over its head. The price tag would have been almost 5 million dollars.
Greenwood had a problem of its own at that time. Its plant was operating below capacity due to Land O? Lakes shutting down its dairy treatment facility.
Since then Loyal has been paying just over 2 dollars for every 1,000 gallons of water, but Greenwood has been paying almost 7 dollars for every 1,000 gallons.
To make sure that Loyal is paying its fair share and to possible help offset an increase in water rates for Greenwood resident, the City of Greenwood will be negotiating a new contract with Loyal.
