Elementary Principal and Dean of Students Report at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-Lance Batchelor, Owen-Withee Elementary Principal gave a report at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.He reported on the elementary food drive which collected over 1600 different food items for the local food pantry. Because the students met their goal, teachers took part in a ?Minute to Win It? type challenge.
Mr. Batchelor as well as Katie Hatlestad, Emily LaSee and Wayne Lubke attended the SLATE, School Leaders Advancing Technology in Education, Conference last week. The group learned many new things, including many applications for use with the iPads.
Lance informed the board that Mid-quarter reports for the 2nd quarter will go home before the Christmas break.
Finally, the Elementary CORE Reading team began the process of reviewing new reading programs. The hope is to have a recommendation for a new curriculum by sometime this spring.
Brian Lewison, Owen-Withee High School Dean of Students, gave a report as well.
Mr. Lewison reported on 2nd quarter Parent/Teacher Conferences, the PLC anti-bullying campaign that recently started, and the performances of ?A Christmas Carol? by the7th grade English students.
Finally, he reported that he, Julie Kodl, Julie Van Ark, Deb Smith and Marilyn Jaskot attended the SLATE conference last week and had a good experience.
