Curriculm Changes and Early Graduation at Recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 -- 8:37 AM

-Curriculum Changes and early graduation were discussed at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.

The Board unanimously approved a request to remove three math courses from the course offerings for 2013-14 and add one new course.

The courses being removed are Applied Math, Basic Geometry and Algebra Trig. The new course will be Tech Prep Math, which will be designed to parallel what students will need for a mathematics course when they attend a technical college.

The course will cover algebra, geometry and trigonometry and probability and statistics. Once the course has been developed, an articulation agreement with Chippewa Valley Technical College will be developed to allow the Owen-Withee students to earn 3 college credits for passing the course while in high school.

The Board unanimously approved a request from Jesse Cheever to be allowed to graduate at the semester break, pending his completion of all graduation requirements.

Jesse has been accepted into a welding program at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau that will begin January 29th.
