Need for Blood Critical, Donate at Tuesday BloodCenter Blood Drive
Monday, December 17th, 2012 -- 2:08 PM
-BloodCenter of Wisconsin is making it easy for Neillsville residents to give back to their community through an upcoming blood drive open to all residents. The drive is scheduled for today, December 18. The blood drive starts at 11 a.m. and donors will be accepted until 4:00 at Memorial Medical Center in the Manz Conference Room.
Vicki Bohman, Account Executive of the BloodCenter of Wisconsin, said, ?This time of year the need for blood is critical. People are sick and bad road conditions plus high travel leads to accidents. Also, during this busy time of year, people just can?t always fit donating into their schedule.
However, Vicki strongly encourages that people take time to donate, especially O Negative blood as their supply is very low and it is the universal type, which mean it can be given to anybody.
Vicki said that walk-ins are welcome, but you should bring a driver?s license, eat a good meal before you donate, hydrate yourself before you donate, and you must be in good health.
Those that donate can also enter to win a football autographed by Green Bay Packer John Kuhn.
Another benefit is that blood collected during the drive, will be used at Memorial Medical Center and the Marshfield Clinic.
