Neillsville Library to be Closed in January for Software Upgrade
Monday, December 17th, 2012 -- 9:32 AM
-The Neillsville Library will be closed January 4th until 1pm January 9th while the library system receives an upgrade.Jo Ann Gustavson, Director of the Library said the reason behind the upgrade is that the current operating system, Horizon, is getting old and out of date.
The new system, Sierra, will offer simplified searching options and can offer suggestions if they user doesn?t spell the name of the author or book exactly right. Sierra can also save books that patrons have checked out to a list, so they can see if they've already read a book.
On the morning of the 9th, before the library opens again, the staff will receive their training on the new system.
Jo Ann explained that the reason that the library is closing is becuase there will be days when they are unable to check out books. Although they could write down all the numbers to the books, Jo Ann said that is just asking for trouble.
This upgrade is happening to all libraries in Clark County and other counties that are a part of the Wisconsin Valley Library Service.
