Friday, December 14th, 2012 -- 8:56 AM

-The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1959 of Black River Falls sent the first donation to be applied to the upcoming Vietnam Exhibit coming to the Learning Center at The Highground in March.

Three exhibits will be combined at a cost of $11,200 but no cost to the public.

The Learning Center exhibits related to Vietnam include: The Wall That Heals with three components with it: 1. The Wall Replica?half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. 2. The Traveling Museum?a mobile museum displaying photos, letters and memorabilia left at The Wall in D.C. 3. The Information Center?where visitors can find names of their friends and loved ones.

Vietnam Graffiti is an exhibit of artifacts left on the ship, The Walker, but removed from the ship before it was scrapped including canvas bunks with graffiti telling the stories by servicemen going to Vietnam during the 1960s. (Actual bunks from the ships are in the display.)

The Vietnam Experience are paintings of the Vietnam war that will be on display from the Naval Art Institute in Washington.

The Learning Center is open seven days/week 361 days/year from 10am to 5pm.
