Policies, Race to the Top, and Energy Proposal at Loyal's School Board Meeting

Friday, December 14th, 2012 -- 8:55 AM

-Policies, Race to the Top, and an Energy Proposal were discussed at Loyal?s School Board Meeting on Wednesday.

The board has been discussing the CESA 10 Energy Proposal for a while now and it was approved last night. Under this proposal the board will have training representatives from CESA 10 come in and offer tips and measures to save the district energy.

Each month, CESA 10 will look at the districts energy bill and if they save money, CESA 10 will get 50% of the saving and the district will get 50%. If they didn?t, CESA 10 won?t get anything.

The board also lifted some restrictions on their personal days for staff. The staff no longer has to give a reason for taking a personal day and they can also use them when they want. The old restrictions required them to give a reason for taking the day and they couldn?t use them to extend a vacation nor could they be used during the first and last week of a semester.

The board was informed that the district did not receive the Race to the Top Grant, they discussed the spring elections as a few board members are up for re-election, one board member is going to the state school board convention in January, and two out of state field trips were approved for the choir.

Finally, during the principals? report, he noted that all 27 members of the High School Band were also on the Honor Roll for the first semester.
