-A presentation from Larry LePage of Somerville Architects was given at Owen-Withee?s School Board Meeting on Monday.Larry presented the first drawings of a possible building project to add several science classrooms into what is presently the courtyard, renovate the tech ed/ag area, remodel the current gym and locker room area and add a commons/foodservice area that would be shared between the elementary school and jr/sr high schools.
The commons area would include a performance area for plays and concerts and a new elementary office area and community room.
Several community members and board members asked questions and gave suggestions regarding the plan.
Over the next month the district will work with a financial consultant to determine how much they can afford and what the impact will be on the tax levy over 20 or 30 years.
If the board hears positive news about the tax implications, they will have to pass a resolution for a referendum question before January 22 for it to be on the April ballot.
The initial version of the plans can be viewed in the Owen-Withee District office.
