Senator Moulton Visits Neillsville American Legion

Friday, December 7th, 2012 -- 1:09 PM

-A handful of constituents voiced their concerns and comments to Senator Terry Moulton at his listening session at the Neillsville American Legion Thursday afternoon.

There was a wide variety of topics brought up including Obamacare, the mining bill, transportation programs, small business, the 30X20 milk program, voter ID and others.

Another item brought up was Governor Walker?s efforts to remove same day voter registration. A local resident said that it shouldn?t change as it has worked for so many years.

Senator Moulton agreed, saying that the thought behind it is that it would help contain voter fraud. He also said that he?s heard from clerks the past couple days that say there isn?t a problem on election days and there is no need to eliminate it. The senator said that perhaps they could simply make tweaks to it until the Governor finds it acceptable.

The Senator also talked about economic development saying that the WEDC needs to have more accountability regarding loans, but sees it as a good program.

He would also like to see the manufacturing businesses, high schools, and tech schools work closely together to help close the skills gap that plagues Wisconsin.
