Wisconsin's Crop Numbers for 2020

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) New figures from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture show that 56,600 total acres of snap beans were picked in the Badger State in 2020, with a total production of 5.6 million per hundredweight.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the agency says production of snap beans for processing was 272,529 tons and was valued at $26.3 million. That's compared to $29.1 million a year earlier.
Wisconsin maintained its number one ranking in production of processing snap beans though production and value were lower than 2019's growing season. Sweet corn growers harvested 9.9 million cwt. from 57,100 acres last year.
Fresh market production totaled 429,700 cwt. and was valued at $15.9 million. Processing production accounted for 478,141 tons and had a value of $33.6 million.
The state remained in third place nationally for processed sweet corn production. Wisconsin farmers produced 1.14 million cwt of green peas. There were 27,700 acres harvested.
The 56,274 tons of processing green pea production had a value of $13.3 million. Producers grew 1.82 million cwt of carrots in 2020 from 3,500 harvest acres worth $8.48 million.
