-A new federal report details the events that lead to the death of a Colby Firefighter during a deadly blaze at the Abbotsford Movie Theatre.Jamison Kampmeyer died in March while fighting the fire in Abbotsford.
The report was released by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
The report explains that fire crews at the scene had a communication breakdown, which caused problems for both the Colby and Abbotsford fire departments.
The documents continued saying the responding fire departments were on different radio channels and important information was not being communicated to everyone on the scene.
The roof collapse, which ultimately killed Jamison Kampmeyer, is explained as well. The roof's construction is what led to the collapse and Kampmeyer, and two other firefighters, were inside during that time.
According to the report, Kampmeyer died of smoke inhalation after being trapped.
Since the fire, the Abbotsford fire chief said that all the departments are working together to do joint mutual training to make sure a tragedy of that magnitude never happens again.
