-Hall of Fame Inductions and Right of First Refusal were discussed at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.District Administrator Bob Houts reported on the induction ceremonies that were held during Homecoming for the two inaugural inductees into the O-W Alumni Hall of Fame. Dr. Josh Nelson and Dr. Cheryl Zimmerman were the recipients this year.
Dr. Nelson, a physician in Portland, OR was not able to attend the ceremony, but Dr. Zimmerman, a professor of pharmacology at the University of Minnesota, did attend and received her award and spoke briefly to the students about the good education she received at Owen-Withee and the support she received from her parents.
The board also discussed the right of first refusal.
Cellcom had proposed to the District that they enter into an agreement that would give them the right of first refusal for any offer the district might receive for their lease on the cell tower located on the property.
Cellcom is concerned that companies are buying up the leases on cell towers and being absent owners. Cellcom would like the opportunity to match any offer the district gets on the lease.
The Board tabled the item until November to better investigate the issue.
