State Aid, 2012 Tax Levy, and Testing Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-State aid, the 2012 tax levy, and testing were discussed at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.The Owen-Withee School District was notified that it will receive 3,459,324 dollars in state aid. That is a decrease of 105,000 dollars compared to last year and down 49,000 dollars compared to the estimate the Department of Public Instruction quoted.
The tax levy for the Owen-Withee district was finalized. The amount is 1,569,546 dollars. The amount is down 200,000 dollars from last year.
Finally, High School Guidance Counselor, Morgan Mueller, reported that there will be a half day of testing on November 6th for all Owen-Withee students in grades 7-11.
Students in grades 7, 8, and 10 will be doing portions of the mandatory WKCE test. 9th graders will be taking the Explore test, a pre-ACT test, and the Juniors will be taking the ASVAB test, an aptitude test that helps measure strengths and weaknesses and potential for future success in college and career.
Testing will occur in the morning on the 6th, with regular classes being run in the afternoon.
