(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The USDA's Farm Service Agency reports that enrollment for the 2021 Dairy Margin Coverage Program has been steady.
DMC offers protection to dairy producers when the difference between the all milk price and the average feed price falls below a certain dollar amount selected by the producer. Farmers who take the option and sign up for coverage levels until 2023 will get a 25 percent discount on their premiums. The sign-up continues through December 11. Meanwhile, signup for the second round of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program is also on pace.
Applications are being accepted through December 11. CFAP 2 is an expansion of the original Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. It will provide producers with financial assistance that gives them the ability to absorb some of the increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
