Friday, October 12th, 2012 -- 8:41 AM
-Secretary of the DNR, Cathy Stepp, answered questions from Neillsville residents at the American Legion on Thursday.Cathy went over several initiatives that got passed in the recent legislative session. Several bills passed were the sporting heritage and recruitment, bear hunting changes, pier registration extension, earn a buck, wolf hunting, transporting firearms or bows, and stewardship directory.
After going over these, citizens fired thoughts and comments at Cathy.
Topics include gravel hauling, sand mines, elk reintroduction, doe kills and ag tags, predators in Clark County, property rights, fishing, and more.
Cathy was happy to answer the question and agreed with the citizens present stating that many people have lost faith in the DNR. She said a big problem was lack of communication on the DNR?s part.
She is doing what she can to increase communication between the departments and the DNR and citizens. She is also happy to set up a meeting or field a phone call from any concerned sportsmen.
