Candidates for Assembly Representative District 87

-Candidates for Assembly Representative District 87 came from a long distance to speak with Clark County residents at the recent ?Meet the Candidate Night? event.Mary Williams, Republican, and Elizabeth Riley, Democrat, now have Thorp included in their district due to the recent redistricting done.
Mary owns several businesses including one here in Neillsville. One project she feels strongly about is the frac sand mine. "That is something that we really, really need. Now we need to do it safely. We have different groups looking into things and if they find anything devistating it will be so sad because we won't be able to have a mine."
This is Elizabeth?s first run at a political position, but she feels that her experiences make her worthy of the job. "I was able to get a good education. I was an English teacher for a number of years and while I was teaching at Marquette University, I picked up a nursing degree because I always wanted to be a nurse."
Mary mentioned a couple bills she helped pass to help 'Wisconsin's' economy. "I voted for legislation that gives tax credits for companies to relocate to Wisconsin and create more jobs and for businesses that are already here to create more jobs."
Elizabeth talked about her strong opposition to ACT 10. "I'm opposed to ACT for many reasons. It became apparent quickly that the Republican majority had no interest in talking to or having an exchange of ideas before ramming through this bill."
Good luck to both candidates.
