(WDLB) A Stratford-area father and son have been arrested in connection with the December death of a Marshfield man.
According to WDLB, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department has announced the arrest of 50-year-old Shawn Carl on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide.
He's accused of killing 20-year-old Christian Schauer, whose body was found December 29 in the McMillan Marsh Wildlife Area north of Marshfield. Carl is also charged with possession of a fully-automatic rifle.
His son, 19-year-old Jared Carl, is charged with possession of stolen property, along with drug and weapons charges. Schauer's missing vehicle, a black 2005 Chevy Impala, was found on Jared Carl's property in the Town of Eau Pleine, after investigators acted on a tip from a citizen.
Shawn Carl made a preliminary appearance in Marathon County Circuit Court on Thursday. A judge found that probable cause existed and a $1 million cash bond was set.
