Monday, October 1st, 2012 -- 8:26 AM
-The Neillsville City Council went over many finance items, from the Finance Committee, at the recent council meeting. They began by discussing the budget process. The various departments provide the information, the Finance Committee then provides direction, and finally the Common Council makes a decision.
Discussion then followed on state revenues, levy limit freezes, 8.8% health insurance increases, wage increases, new equipment, fuel costs, postage increases, holding the line, and cutting costs wherever possible.
It was approved by the committee to have all departments try and keep the budget at the 2012 level and make cuts where possible. They also accepted the proposal from Wiese Risk Management.
Wages were kept the same for many city officials, but small raises were given to some.
