Clark and Wood Counties Added to List of Natural Disaster Areas

Friday, September 28th, 2012 -- 8:18 AM

-Clark and Wood Counties have been added to the list of natural disaster areas.

Many counties had been added onto the USDA?s list of natural disaster areas due to the damage and losses caused by the intense summer drought.

The USDA announced this week that the two counties have been added.

U.S. Agricultural Department said that actual loss loans for producer losses will be based on the disaster year production compared to the previous three year production history. The actual loss loans for physical damages to property destroyed or damaged will be based upon the allowable cost associated with repairing or replacing the property destroyed or damaged. In addition, the damaged or destroyed property must be essential to the continuation of the operation.

Other counties on the list include Juneau, Jackson, Marathon, Eau Claire, Taylor, and more.

Interest rates for actual loss loans that do not exceed $500,000 will be 2.125 percent. The deadline to file for a disaster loan is March 13, 2013.
