Taylor County Man Bound for Trial

Thursday, September 27th, 2012 -- 8:20 AM

-A Taylor County man will be going to trial for possession of explosives for unlawful purposes.

Reports indicate that Patrick R. Staton, of the town of McKinley, had allegedly been making improvised explosive devices and planned to kill a Taylor County judge, district attorney and sheriff's department detective.

Defense attorney Richard Voss said that he is still waiting to get access to the materials at the state crime lab and state attorney Mark Fuhr is not sure if all discoveries have been delivered to the defense.

Voss requested a two week window to allow access to these materials, which include the explosive devices found at Staton?s residence, and if not to adjourn the jury trial scheduled at the end of October.

Judge Paul Lenz left the trail for the end of October. Staton is being charged with bail jumping, felony and misdemeanor, possession of explosives for unlawful purposes, possession of drug paraphernalia, and battery or threat to a judge.
