Greenwood School District Holds Annual Meeting

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 -- 8:43 AM

-The Greenwood School District held its annual board meeting on Monday.

After some minor business the board, and the citizens of Greenwood that attended the meeting, approved the tax levies.

A tax levy of $2,031,000 was approved for the General Fund, $570,059 for debt retirement, and $10,000 for the Community Service Fund. The board did note that, as in the past, once the state aid is certified in October, they may need to adjust the levy once this information is announced.

They approved the salaries of the school board members. Currently, the Board President earns $1,620, and all other members earn $1,320 annually. They also earn $50 per special meeting.

Reimbursements for a school board member on a per diem basis were also accepted. Currently, this is $100 per day when duties require the member to be absent from his or her job.

Finally, the board and citizens of Greenwood approved the sale of obsolete school district property, the authorization of the board to acquire real estate through purchase or condemnation, and the sale of school property.

The board set the date for the next annual meeting in September of 2013.
