Possible Changes to Greenwood's Dairy Days

Monday, September 24th, 2012 -- 8:50 AM

-The Greenwood Dairy Days Festival could see some major changes next year.

Many people have said that the recent celebration saw a continued decline in attendance this year; however, they do agree that the lack of rides was a significant contributor to the low turnout.

This wasn?t a choice by the city. The firm that was booked to come double booked themselves elsewhere due to a misunderstanding and the company that was hired to replace them cancelled the night before the festival.

The city council and Dairy Days committee talked about shortening the event, which starts Thursday evening and runs until Sunday evening, to two days, Saturday and Sunday.

They also discussed adding ATV, truck, or horse pulls to the show. They also discussed bringing in ?Butter Olympics.?

A main problem the city faces is the lack of interest in helping with Dairy Days which is essential to the events success.

However, the city did manage to make enough money this year to cover the entertainment for next year.
