Trial Set for One of Three Stanley Inmates

Monday, September 24th, 2012 -- 8:48 AM

-A trial for one of the three men accused of breaking out of the Stanley Prison will take place in February.

In January of 2010, Eddie Evans, age 59, Jimmy Bladwin, age 34, and Henry Spencer, age 27, had release documents forged to get early releases. Evans and Baldwin did escape, but were caught a few days later. Spencer was caught before he was released.

The three men are being charged with escaping from prison, forging documents, and identity theft.

The trial couldn?t be set sooner because of the large collaboration of schedules of the witnesses that could be called to testify.

As of right now, only Henry Spencer has a trial set for February, but the prosecutors and state want to have all three men on trial at the same time, due to the large amount of witnesses and evidence.

Baldwin and Evans cases have been dismissed without prejudice at this point, but they are expecting to be picked up again once a decision has been made regarding all three men?s trials being at the same time. The judge has already set an initial appearance for the two men in November.
