Name of Victim in Fatal Wood County Crash Released

Thursday, September 6th, 2012 -- 7:41 AM

-The name of the victim in the fatal Wood County crash has been released.

A Kwik Trip tanker crashed early Wednesday morning in Wood County and left the driver dead. It happened south of Marshfield in the town of Richfield.

The driver was Rodney Koenemann, age 47, from Holmen. He worked for Kwik Trip and Koenemann's tanker was full of fuel at the time.

According to officials, evidence shows the truck gradually went off the road, the driver attempted to over correct, hit an embankment and then overturned.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Very little gas leaked out of the tanker after the crash, but County Highway A was closed for almost 12 hours while authorities investigated and the gas and tanker were cleaned up and removed. Another Kwik Trip tanker did come to the scene to remove fuel from the other rig.

Authorities say alcohol and phone usage were not factors in this crash; however, they say the investigation will take some time.
