Granton School Board Hears Report on Indicator 11 Letter

-The Granton School Board heard a report on the Indicator 11 letter at their recent meeting.
The board heard the report from Interim District Administrator James Kuchta. The letter praised the district for their successful completion of the DPI mandated report. The board also heard a report by Kim Aumann regarding the AGR, or Achievement Gap Reduction Report.
The board also discussed and tabled the 2021-22 school calendar proposal and approved a new substitute teacher rate of $120 per day plus lunch for daily teacher substitutes effective March 1st.
The board also reviewed bids for mowing and trimming school grounds and a three-year contract was approved for Trimline Lawn Care LLC. The board also approved two Chapter 10 policies with no changes, revisions of one Chapter five policy, and revisions of six Chapter 10 policies.
The board reviewed COVID-19 Protocol Plan and made no changes continuing with the current face mask requirement, they approved the resignation of Track Coach Cheyenne Thomas and Board President Theresa Hasz reported that she attended the virtual WASB (Wisconsin Association of School Boards) Convention on January 20th-22nd. She served as a delegate and all resolutions passed the delegate assembly.
Music Teacher, Jesse Kozak, also presented information regarding the Granton Instrumental Music Program. Principal Amanda Kraus gave a brief report on student activities prepared by Student Council Representative Tanner Friedemann.
The FFA Parliamentary Team is practicing, the Granton Girls Basketball Team won another game against Owen-Withee, and Forensics will be competing virtually this year.
Also, Clark County Health Services representatives, Brittany Mews and Corrine Meacham, joined the board virtually via Zoom to provide information and answer questions for the board. They discussed the mask mandate, vaccination schedule for Clark County, and health effects on children with COVID-19.
Finally, the board heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Kraus updated the board that 47% of students were contacted on the last Virtual Learning/Reinforcement Day and they are working on coordination of Summer School and Summer Swimming keeping COVID safety in mind. Also, some new unique classes will be offered.
Interim Superintendent Kuchta reported that the first Strategic Plan Steering Committee meeting was on January 21st with 41 people in attendance. The next meeting will be on February 11th. Also, the Finance Action team met on January 29th and updated the Granton Facility Needs List.
Clark Electric Cooperative notified the school they will be replacing a utility pole on the school property located on Highway 73. The Granton Community Child Care Center was closed nine days in January but still made a small profit.
A COVID-19 vaccine date is tentatively set for March 12th for Clark County Schools. Also, Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund 2 funds will be four times more than the original ESSER 1 funding.
Finally, he shared that weekly interviews are conducted with Central Wisconsin Broadcasting and aired on their stations (107.5FM, 92.7FM, 1370AM/98.5FM), transcribed and posted to their website, and shared on their Facebook page. Staff members are interviewed highlighting Granton teachers, staff, and programs.
