-?I think the jury got it right and I concur with the verdict.?Those were the words that Judge Scott Horne spoke before he laid down the sentence for Eric Koula who was found guilty of murdering his parents and forgery. ?You show no sign of remorse,? the judge continued.
Koula will receive life in prison without possibility of parole for each murder. He will also serve 3 years in prison and 3 years extended supervision for the forgery. He will serve these terms consecutively.
Koula must also pay restitution to the family.
Koula?s sister gave a very emotional statement to the judge asking for justice for her parents. ?I wish they could be here and not dead and buried in West Salem.?
Koula maintained his innocence saying, ?I did not kill my mom and dad. I?m going to fight for my innocence. I?m going to do it for my family.?
After the verdict was read, Koula had a brief moment to hug his wife and son and speak with them before he was led away, red-eyed, but not crying.
