Thompson Wins Republican Primary

-Tommy Thompson will be the Republican Candidate to face Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the November Elections.

Tommy Thompson had a total of 197,248 votes, followed by Eric Hovde with 179,036. Next in line was Mark Neumann with 132,378 votes and finally Jeff Fitzgerald with 71,678 votes.

The total number of votes cast was 580,340.

Percentage wise, Thompson had 34% of the votes, Hovde with 30%, Neumann with 22%, and Fitzgerald with 12%.

The primary marked Thompson's first time on the ballot since 1998. He advances to face Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the Nov. 6 election.

The seat became open following the retirement of Democrat Herb Kohl.
