Buchanan Earns Third in the Nation at NCAA College Wrestling Championships

Stephen Buchanan of Loyal, wrestling for Oklahoma University, earned third place in the nation at 197.

Stephen won his first two matches on Thursday, and then lost his quarterfinal match on Friday to top seed Aaron Brooks of Penn State, by pin at 2:45. In his first consolation round match, Stephen beat John Poznanski of Rutgers in a tie-breaker, 2-1. Stephen then beat Michael Beard of Lehigh 12-1.

In the consolation semi-finals, Stephen beat Tanner Sloan of South Dakota State 6-2.  Stephen then won the third place match by defeating Jacob Cardenas of Cornell 9-4.  Stephen ends his season 30-3.
