Neillsville Middle School and High School recently conducted annual student trainings in collaboration with Clark County Community Services on suicide and non-suicidal self-harm reduction.

The trainings, held on February 29th, were led by Stephanie Simonson and Katie Kinter, who did an outstanding job educating students on these crucial topics. Both Stephanie and Katie are certified QPR trainers, teaching students the Question, Persuade, Refer method for suicide prevention.

The NHS 10th graders received full QPR Gatekeeper training, while NMS 8th graders received an introduction to the concept. Additionally, students in Grade 7 received training on Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Reduction, learning about healthy coping skills and how to support friends in need.

The trainings were informative and impactful, providing students with valuable knowledge and skills to help themselves and others. For more information on QPR and self-harm reduction, visit https://qprinstitute.com/ and https://www.selfinjury.bctr.cornell.edu/.
