Owen-Withee Dean of Students Report at Recent School Board Meeting

-Brian Lewison, Owen-Withee Jr./Sr. High School Dean of Students, gave a report at the recent Owen-Withee School Board Meeting.

Brian reported on Finals week informing the board that periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 on Thursday and 2,4,6, 8 on Friday would be used for finals.

The All-Conference Band and Choir festival was held at Thorp on Saturday, January 19. Musicians from around the conference practiced all day on Saturday and gave a concert on Saturday evening at 6:00 PM.

Scheduling for the 2013-14 school year is set to begin. Students will register the last week of January, with the schedule being built by the end of February.

Brian also informed the district that Mrs.Fazendin, the high school social studies teacher, will have guest speakers representing the Mennonite community in January. The presentations will address cultural myths and stereotypes about the Mennonite culture in the area.

Finally, 8th grade students will have a presentation by the Blume Foundation on January 28th dealing with suicide prevention and coping strategies for teens.
