The existing pavement is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing the following:
- Resurfacing the asphaltic pavement
- Paving 5-foot shoulders and adding shoulder rumble strips to reduce run-off-the-road crashes
- Currently, three feet of the existing shoulders is paved.
- Shoulder paving is proposed from Bachelors Avenue to 2,000 feet west of WIS 73 South (55 mph speed zone).
- Replacing approximately 300 feet of pavement located about 1,000 feet west of Sidney Avenue, located west of Neillsville
- Replacing, repairing or cleaning culverts
- Repairing spot locations of curb and gutter and inlets
- Replacing guardrail
- Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps
- Rehabilitating bridges over Wedges Creek and the Black River
- Installing new pavement markings and centerline rumble strips
Construction is currently scheduled for 2029, but work could be advanced to 2027 if funding becomes available. During construction, US 10 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging.
During paving work, trucks will be detoured via US 12, WIS 95 and WIS 73.
