Greenwood School Board Approves COVID Leave for Teachers

-The Greenwood School Board held a special School Board meeting on July 30th.

The board approved the creation of Covid Leave to address staff absences due Covid-19 related illness and/or quarantine during the 2020-2021 school year. The board also discussed the possibility of hiring interventionists to address the learning gap caused by the closure of schools from March 16-June 5 and to provide additional coverage for classrooms. The board also approved increasing in-house substitute teacher pay for the 2020-2021 school year.

The board also approved that employees will continue to receive full compensation during any mandatory quarantine period or in the event of another closure of schools. The board delayed discussion of a face covering policy in light of the Governor’s face covering order, but a district face covering policy is being developed. Finally, the board approved the employment of Nicholas Konopa as a Spanish Teacher.
